          Name: X Russian Quadripartite icon:

  1. Nativity of Christ with three Wise men Balthazar, Gaspar (Casper), and Melchior bringing the gifts. The infant Christ with the parents Most Holy Theotokos Mary and Righteous Joseph the Betrothed. The miracle appearance of Angel to shepherds. St. Joseph in hesitation below.

  2. Theophany (from Greek theophania, meaning "appearance of God") or Baptism of the Lord (Mt.3:13-17; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 3:21-22) in the River Jordan. God the Father spoke from Heaven about the Son, the Son was baptized by the St John the Forerunner, and the Holy Spirit descended upon the Son in the form of a dove. It's the beginning of Christ's earthly ministry.

  3. Resurrection of Christ or Descent to the Hades. Holy Glorious Prophet Elijah (9th C BC) with St. Enoch and Rakh the Righteous Thief at the Gates of Paradise. In the lower part of the icon Christ in Hades taking Righteous patriarchs, prophets, and holy women: Adam, Abel, Isaac, Moses, Jacob, Noah, Eva, Rebecca, Abraham, Kings Solomon and David, Abraham, John the Forerunner from Hell. A six -winged Seraphim guards the Heavenly Gates.

  4. Ascension of Christ. The most Holy Mother of God flanked by Angels of Lord and Holy Apostles below.
